Sarai stood serenely by the snack station, a cocktail clutched in hand, chatting with her new colleagues Jenny and Tisha. The office party was a flurry of frivolity, filled with the hum of happy chatter and clinking crystal.
"So, how's the new project progressing?" Jenny asked, sipping her drink daintily.
Sarai smiled, though her thoughts were adrift. "It's challenging, but we're making marvelous strides."
Tisha nodded. "And how's the team treating you?"
"They're wonderful. Very welcoming," Sarai responded, her gaze drifting toward the exit. She secretly craved to stop the socializing.
With a graceful excuse, Sarai slipped silently into a secluded hallway. She reached into her purse, pulling out a petite, polished envelope. She opened it, took a deep breath, and glanced around to ensure she was alone.
Inside was a resignation letter, ready for tomorrow.
Returning to her colleagues, Sarai's smile sparkled as brightly as before.
